Surface finishes / shelf-life

Curiously... Shelf-life of the plating alternatives has been mentioned several times as a potential issue in these discussions. Tell me is there a market for a simple plastic packaging which could extend shelf life (and hence solderability) of these asp PCB's beyond 10 years or more for anyone out there? I already found out that the market for tin-lead plated variety packaging of PCB's for longer shelf-life isn't that viable. Pb seems the most robust as far as shelf-life to date.
