Lead Free High Temp Solder Wire | 1 March, 2006

Hello all,

I am looking for a high temp lead free solder wire to use when attaching thermocouples for oven profiling. I figure something that reflows at 270-300c would do the trick. Can anyone give me a Brand, model# for such a solder?

THANKS.

HMP solders Pb >85% are exempt from the RoHS directive. Doesn't make a lot of sense but that wasn't your question.

Your best bet would be to browse through you current solder suppliers catalog and pick your alloy. Most of them have a list of alloys and their melting points as well as what form they can be supplied in.

Multicore make a HMP alloy liquidus at 298 degrees, Pb93Sn5Ag2.Ive used it to attatch thermocouples but they're difficult to solder as they dont wet.
