Rework Flux

Electronics Forum | Fri Oct 25 04:06:56 EDT 2002 | kcngoi

Hi Adam, Excessive heat from soldering iron will left the burn mark of RMA flux. The residue is hard to remove. Suggest to use the Flux pen for better control.

PCBoard Marking

Electronics Forum | Thu Sep 06 10:04:54 EDT 2001 | blnorman

We have started switching all our PCB marking from labels to Laser marking. We have a silkscreen patch put on the boards then use a CO2 laser to burn the mark off to produce the barcode. Our marking downtime has gone from an average of 8 hours a we

PCB SolderPad Yellowish

Electronics Forum | Mon Sep 05 01:38:12 EDT 2005 | plcc

I hv a PCB (mtrl is RF35). After going thru' reflow, we found yellowish stain on the solder pad (solder mask). It looks like burn-marks. The reflow temp use is 245oC. We tried running bare pcb under 220oC, there's minimum stain found (acceptable),how

Barcodes for PCBs - what systems?

Electronics Forum | Thu Jun 12 03:37:05 EDT 2008 | benefon

It is also possible to etch the barcodes directly on the PCB by using a laser. The solder resist mask is easily burned by laser and if there is copper underneath the contrast is quite good. The contrast is satisfactory even if there is no metal under

Removing soldermask from populated boards (PCBAs)

If you have access to a laser for barcode marking you can perform multiple passes to burn the mask away.

Reflow Ovens

Electronics Forum | Tue Oct 18 17:06:04 EDT 2005 | stepheniii

At one time I could show you the spacing of the chain of an electrovert but the burn marks have dissapeared. The center support chain would wrap around and jam up and with boards in the oven.............. On that one for some reason we bought it wit

Removing soldermask from populated boards (PCBAs)

Electronics Forum | Sat Jan 14 11:22:04 EST 2023 | proy

Hello - I have seen this work effectively with a diode laser. I recently purchased a CO2 laser which I am certain would work. 10-20w diode lasers (used for marking and engraving) would likely work. The resist burns away, but the copper then dissipate

Bar Coding - auto print and apply solutions

Electronics Forum | Tue Mar 20 15:59:15 EDT 2007 | blnorman

We use preprinted labels and laser coding. For PCB we laser mark with CO2 (NdYAG for the aluminum heat spreaders). We either have an epoxy legend to burn out or we burn the solder mask to expose the copper ground plane underneath. Laser is a much

pcb laser markers

Electronics Forum | Mon Jul 12 14:00:37 EDT 2004 | blnorman

We've been using lasers to mark barcodes on our boards for some time now. We use a CO2 laser to burn through the solder mask on most of our boards. The machine is enclosed so the operators aren't exposed to the laser. The laser is also mounted on

Re: White Tin PCB - Hand soldering

Electronics Forum | Wed Jan 26 21:16:28 EST 2000 | Dave F

Mark: It sound like one or more of the following is happening: * Previous heat cycles (ie, reflow, reflow, wave) are degrading the surface protectant * Wire solder flux doesn't have enough stomp to burn through the corrosion. That poor ol' stuff
