Not an expert on PCB manufacture, but it looks like mask from other side of PCB flowed through vias before this side was masked. Is it possible previous vendor masked this side first, or used film-type mask which would not flow through?

In order to track the board flow through your line you will have to hook up all conveyor input sensors as well as the last output sensor to a PLC. You can program the PLC to provide an alarm signal if a accumulative time of xxx hours for any board is

Solder flow thru via on pad

Does anyone know the cause(s) of solder flowing through a via to the other side of board during reflow causing solder bumps on opposite side? Is this mainly a design issue or could it be process related? Any help is appreciated.

Tented Via's

KRIKIES! tenting WILL inhibit solder flow through the top-side me lad. In the meantime, me chap, have you tried to adjust wave parameters? i've read threads here that a vibrating wave will tend to push solder up through holes.

Ry-n, Yes, this applies to Heller ovens. I had the exact same problem. The SSR failed and current continues to flow through the heating coils until it triggers an emergency shut down.

HELLO MIKE, THE PROBLEM WITH THE VIA BEING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PAD CAN BE HANDLED. IF YOU ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH SOLDER FLOWING THROUGH AT REFLOW YOU MIGHT WANT TO CHECK YOUR VACUUM AT YOU SCREEN PRINTER. SOMETIMES THE VACUUM THAT HOLDS THE PCB

Jeff, what I generally use as a rule of thumb on multi-row connectors was a strip on the trailing side of the connector as it flows through the wave. The strip was always the same width as the diameter of your through-hole. The distance of the stri

BGA via in pad

I have a customer that designed a fine pitch BGA into a board, and has put small vias in the middle of each pad on the PCB. Anyone have any ideas on how I can prevent the solder from the BGA from flowing through the vias and causing voids or no cont

Continuing with the idea of capping the via with SR1000: If you have boards in-stock that will require all the putzing around that you've doing to prevent the solder flowing through the via, consider reworking your stock with SR1000 to prevent all th
