Immersion Silver Reliability / Peelable mask

Electronics Forum | Wed May 26 06:59:10 EDT 2004 | davef

Some peelable solder masks attack immersion finishes. It appears components in the peelable soldermask, such as ammonia, are not very friendly to these particular surface finish. [We've wanted to investigate the effect of mask application thickness

Immersion Silver Reliability / Peelable mask

Sure, I'd expect your PCB fab has given you a information sheet on handling, storage, and whatnot, including recommended temporary solder masks. The cats & kitties in the stockroom are the first people to start your search. It's probably squirreled

Cleaning of stencil

Electronics Forum | Thu Apr 22 10:43:25 EDT 2004 | tigerlordgm

We had a great deal of trouble cleaning adhesive residue from stencils using an alcohol stencil washer. Same kind of thing, adhesive build-up in aperture corners. The solution we came up with was to convert our stencil washer to run Zestron ES200, a

Reflow soldering of Solar panels

Only the manufacturer of this part can tell you if subjecting the entire assembly through reflow temps is okay. It is not a good assumption that "if a part can be hand soldered it can withstand reflow" there are many connectors/headers/buzzers/etc

HAVING PROBLEMS W/ PARTS MOVING AT REFLOW

Electronics Forum | Wed Apr 21 08:53:04 EDT 2004 | TONY

I am having problems with one certain board that is gold immersion. I know it is not oven problems or part problems because it is various parts that are moving during reflow. Also I have not had problems with any other boards going through the same

Can anyone recommend a reflow profile for already flowed solder?

Electronics Forum | Wed Apr 21 17:27:27 EDT 2004 | russ

We always use the regular production reflow profile when we use this method. Since you don't want to do that, All that is required is to ramp the part up to temp to get the balls to melt. If you don't exceed 2C per sec. in a ramp you will be fine.

Sulfamate Nickel Finish

I have a new customer who is recommending a Sulfamate Nickel Finish for his boards. I'm not really familiar with this process. Is anybody else? How does it differ from electroless nickel? Can a standard NC solder paste cut the mustard with this stuff

Chemicals in Aqeous Cleaners

Now the ball starts rolling. I'm lookin' for a new aqeous cleaner. Do I really need chemical cleaners or saponifiers, surfactant etc. for an Aqeous Cleaning Machine in removing OA or Water Soluble flux from under my 1.27mm Pitch BGA down to 1mm Pitch

Chemicals in Aqeous Cleaners

Adding a Chemistry will reduce density of solution to get under the devices more effectively. You can clean your OA flux residues well enough with just hot water and hot DI water rinse. Top batch cleaners: http://www.speedlinetech.com/electrovert/aqu

Chemicals in Aqeous Cleaners

Waste Water from any cleaner must be recycled or treated before going to drain. That is the case in most states in the USA. The wash solution that is mixed with a chemistry cannot be processed thru a water recycling system, only the rinse water can.
