Does anyone know 2-pin DIP components? Who uses them, why are they in the DIP form and not simple axial components? Are they usually placed by hand or by modified DIP placement machines? Thanks for any answers, Erhard

We need to convert 150 large 28 pin DIP I.C. for SMT assembly. We mean, bending the leads at 90 degrees apart. Does someone knows where we can go for that ?

Chris, I should have read your request more carefully. .010" glue dot diameter would require at least .005" needle diameter. No way you can do it with the above mentioned machines. You are already stretching the capability of glue machines for 0402 c

Problem areas are always ground connections. 20 pin dips have great flow on 18 of 20 pins, caps have poor upflow on the ground side only etc. That's my problem. 90% of the pwb looks great. Bottomside - awesome. Ground connections do not meet the 75%

Steve, I have no influence over conn design. We paste print-reflow solder two types of connectors. One is a 50 pin IDC w/ 0.5mm lead dia @ 2.54mm lead pitch and a chamfered pointed lead tip. The other is 32 pin DIP w/ 0.36mm lead dia @ 2.54mm pitch

Hi Al, Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, I should have said that the cable has been checked and another cable tested with the same results. In addition to the three wires that carry the transmit data, the receive data and the data signal ground, the
