PCB snap-offs

Electronics Forum | Tue Aug 29 10:44:01 EDT 2000 | Dougie

Hi, This a dull question I know, but I have a boss who want's an answer... PCB snap-offs: * Design keep them to a minimun to save cost on the PCB * Production want more to stabilise the board when it goes through the process as some PCBs partially

Rippling effect of stencils

What Snap-Off are you running ? I've seen this happen when a large negative Snap-Off is used. If you "contact" print (I.E. Zero Snap-Off) this tends to minimize the stencil coining. We use a mix of MPM & Transition Automation blades. I have noticed

Hi, We have a snap-off issue. I guess it can be linked to z calibration.

Squeege Snap off (MEASURED?)

It is the distance between board and stencil. When your stenciling solder paste you usually want to contact print (which is "0" snapoff). When you are stenciling adhesive you can affect your dot size and quality by using a gap between board and stenc

Thanks for your help guys. We've V-scored boards in the past and it led to difficulties, as mentioned with the depth of groove etc... Our PCB's vary in shape and size drastically, and I mean drastically. So it looks as if a little more though on wh

Once again, it isnt the process problem. Its machine problem. Ive tried to change all of the parameters: printing speed, printing pressure, snap-off speed, snap-off distance, etc. No any effect. Defect still exists with different process parameter

Dougie, not a dull question at all. How about this. Get one of your engineers cad files and add a couple of snap-offs to it yourself. Put both files to a supplier and see if the price is any different. I asked two of my local manufacturers and they b

poor print definition

Hi Mark, Not to be condescending, but is your 265 camera in focus? I've seen one instance of this. If its not the camera, and you are sure all your other parameters are good, , then poor definition can be from bad snap-off or bad gasketing. Snap

you also may find that varying the width/spacing of your breakaways affects how they run through a pass-through system, if you utilize one. They can raise he!! with conveyor sensors, throw timing off, send printers into a new cycle before the board
