Hi, I am looking for the IPC criteria hole-to-lead ratio. Does anybody know a practical way to determine if some holes in my pcb's do not get enough solder in the wave solder machine because an inapropiate hole-to-lead ratio? Thanks in advance! Hi

Mike, Russ is right, no 'normal' wave machine will solder PCB's with 1" long lead length. I have seen waves modified to clear up to 5/8" leads, but the deeper the wave the uglier things get. They get uglier in that a lot more dross is produced, con

It sounds like the process is very labor intensive, and all the verification is done after the parts are soldered. Assuming you are hand placing the components: 1 - Contact Systems semi-automatic placement machine. It show polarity when placing, so

We have no problems but orientation does matter. Orient with longest side of component body perpendicuar to wave. In other words the same preference as with through hole DIPS. Idea is the same as for through hole, that the surface tension will ten

Dave: I haven't located something to support your contention, yet, and I'm not going to comment on the factors that drive reliability beyond component selection, because I know that you've got some sweaty-palmed sales type wringing his hands waiting

I own and have read this book. While it is better than the average soldering book, it is not the first book that I reach for in trying to sort through a problem. It introduces a broad range of soldering methods with a reasonable amount of detail, b
