PCB Standards

Electronics Forum | Wed Jun 10 15:10:55 EDT 1998 | Rich

I am looking for the Industry standards on vias. Are they required to be plated with solder or is copper plating enough? What about reliabilty with either one? Also, if tenting the via is required should it be copper plated or solder plated over c

Re: SOLDER BALL UNDER THE PCB AFTER REFLOW SOLDERING

Electronics Forum | Thu Oct 01 11:40:17 EDT 1998 | Justin Medernach

Are there anyone who can give me the answer about solder ball problem? | We have 12 layer PCB and double sided PCB. After one side reflow soldering We found lots of solder ball under the PCB. The solder ball was coming out from via hole. | So

Hi Jacqueline! Do these joints that you're having problems with happen to be on fine pitch solder joints? Are the fillets staying attached to the foot and separating from the pads cleanly? If that is true, are there many vias concentrated aroun

The first picture shows an issue. Note that the vias adjacent to the interior rows are filled with solder. At the outside rows this is not evident. What you might have are interior spheres that are smaller in volume than the rows on the outide, si

Solder Mask Bubbling On PCB from Supported Via Holes

Electronics Forum | Tue Jul 15 16:12:23 EDT 2008 | boardhouse

Hi Armynski, I sell for an offshore board house, yes, it is common for offshore board shops to fill vias. The bubble is caused by air entrampment within the hole it self, when heat is applied during Hot air and the via is covered on both sides the e

Thank you Steve for your input it was very usefull. I think I skipped a few pertinant details on my initial message though, the component which we found the flux contamination on was on the top side of the board, I was curious if the flux could come

Micro Solder Balls and Vias bridging Issue

Electronics Forum | Tue Mar 03 09:29:48 EST 2015 | rgduval

A couple of things that have helped me with solder ball issues at wave in the past: 1. Flux. Insure good flux coverage on the bottom of the board. 2. Preheat. Insure that the board is sufficiently preheated for the wave operation. Since you're

Re: Via Sizes

Via is normally a plated thru holes in (0.63 to 1.0 mm (0.025" to 0.040") diameter lands , which unless properly treated they must be located away from the component lands to prevent the solder migration off the component land during reflow soldering

Hi All I have a 0.7 mm diameter hole for vias, whats the minimum annular ring for this hole diameter? Ans: Fur inner layers Min = .006" hole-pad annular ring ; inner pad dia - hole dia/2 For outer layers Min = .005" hole-pad annular ring ; outer p

First, splitting hairs on parlance. * Conformal Coating. A thin electrically nonconductive protective coating that conforms to the configuration of the covered assembly to provide environmental and mechanical protection. * Solder Mask. Coating mate
