It depends on what you're doing. Say for component placement verification, a line that's kicking-butt might have time to look at a somewhat different quarter of each board, depending on lots of stuff [eg, board, AOI equipment, line rate, etc.]

First Article Inspection is always a MUST in SMT Process. If possible AOI would be added. We also have second operator/inspector to check on pick&place machine setup and use a program printout for inspector to compare/double-check with BOM and the ot

Hello gentleman, I saw many topics regarding aoi verification but I didn't see how You handle with board with simulated failures during life time, because we Are facing issue with ageing of tin oxidation. Is it any idea how to solved this issue?

We're getting our first AOI machine up and running. How are companies handling the need to check the machine's ability to catch defects at setup/changeover? It seems nearly impossible to verify that the machine is still effectively checking each of

If you don't have too many products to run, keep known defect boards for each product and run them through as a first & last off. That way you know if it has drifted out. Yes I appreciate it's not always easy to have a spare defect board/golden sam

We do what here is call a master, this board has a bunch of misalign components, missing components, bad solder joints, crack components, and other defects that we want the AOI to look for, now we compare what the AOI finds with a list of the defects
