Have seen this with bad/intermittent connections to the camera. Replacing the cable fixed this.

I've been using a DEK Vectorguard frame for a couple months now and like it a lot. It uses air to clamp/unclamp the foil and both DEK Vectorguard and Alpha Metals Tetrabond foils fit the frame. Just about any decent stencil supplier sells Vectorgua
