5 Steps to Eliminate Bridges: 1. Establish (wave) Parallelism First and foremost, you must establish board-to-wave parallelism. This is the prerequisite to any wave solder process control. For an understanding of the power of this approach go to ht

There is a new toy I received today: a NeoDen TM-240A automatic desktop pick and place machine! I’ve kept my eyes on this baby for a quite a while, and finally decided to make a purchase last week. The shipping was very fast: DHL from China, a total

"Guest" is right, actually. CSP's are essentially BGA's, but typically the pitch and ball diameters are much smaller and in some cases, the pads of the CSP's can not be screen printed. If that's the case, you'd have to have flux-dip capabilities on

UNDERFILL The design of the component and the end-use environment drive the requirement fot underfill. Here is a good introduction: http://www.asymtek.com/news/articles/2002_globaltronics_csp_and_fcuf.pdf Google for more. We have no relationship, n

My SMT line does not has these facilities so would you please tell me regarding the UNDERFILL AND FLUX-DIP process and how they can be done? Thanks.

Sounds like your flux to me. Since you cannot change the board or the machine, changing flux would be one question mark you could take away with a phone call and a sample. You will really be surprised how different fluxes can affect your final prod

Hi, We have a board with over 100 chips (mixed size) and some long Connector DIP through out Wave solder with many issues of no solder and solder bridge, (using clean flux with bubble fluxer and Kester solder bar). Currently we tried to reduce the de

With DIP type components, a sub-par fluxing method (foaming a no-clean), and a chip wave where one is not needed are formulas for bridging and insufficient wetting. If you have SMD's on the wave solder side of the board greater than 0603, and no SOT

Guess- If a component drops at the camera the machine will not proceed to attempt to place it and drive the nozzle into a brick of solder paste. The line sensor will catch the fact there is no component on the nozzle and will retry to pick and place.

Thanks for all replying to my printing SPC posting. I like to expand the SPC discussion on reflow and wave soldering. I am aware of the common methods of applying periodic measurements using test vehicles though the machines to collect critical pr
