We have had soldering problems with fine pitch QFP in the past [and probably will in the future]. Several questions leap to mind: * When you took your profile on the component pads, do you profile on the pads that did not solder well? * When you say

we do that and there's a variation on the solder temp. sometimes around 10 degrees, we have 2 solder pallets that are run in intervals of roughly 3 1/2 minutes a part (the time that take the operator to put all 3 terminals in a 42 pcbs per board, and

I can't speak too much as to why your joints are appearing dull, even with the booster. I can recommend a new chemistry that Kyzen has out that I've been running for about a year now. Price is about the same, it can be run at low(er) concentrations

Hi A, Your subject is black solder, but you decrribe the solder as dull? Dull solder joints could be dross related, or even flux related. Are there any other related defects? But "dull metal sufaces" makes me thing this board was subjected to so

solder joints are dull on the bottom, and surprisingly, darkened, "black" on the top, especially at one location only.

I am having problems with a product we receive from our overseas plant, where there is excessive "dullness" of solder joints/metal surfaces after running a board on a pallet through wave solder. Seems to be an issue of the pallet, as the solder appe
