Hello, I've ran into information claiming that ESD dissipative floor mats and laminate is not effective unless paired with ESD footwear or heel straps. Can anyone confirm or deny? Thanks! -OtheRuss

Correct. Remember, you need the charge to flow to earth from yourself, the heel strap/conductive shoes etc. facilitate this, otherwise you would stay charged no matter how good the floor was.

Rob is right. ESD flooring is "Conductive" which means it can drain ESD from the body. But if you have an insulated shoe, it does not good, the ESD remains on the body. Now if you wear a smock, then you can rub ballons in your hair and touch any

I've used it at my last two companies, and quite like it. The base floor has to be prepared correctly, so that the epoxy bonds correctly, but, it's easy to maintain, and is pretty durable. Repeated movement of bench chairs over it does cause wear

We only reapplied in areas where significant wear was observed. As I mentioned, shop chairs moving back and forth, combined with lead trimmings and other debris led to scraping and peeling over time. Other than that, no, we did not re-apply over
