Kris, Try searching the web for the phrase "Lead Conditioning". For some reason "conditioning" is the term used most often as opposed to "straigntening". There are a number of machines out there, most notably those by STI. Chris Fontaine Manufact

Emil, The issue that caused the problem has been solved and corrected. The problem I'm having now is I need to prove their acceptability to others or I'm faced with scraping/reworking thousands of parts. I agree that the parts should be accepta

Hi, There have been other studies where it was found that lead-free soloder joints are more reliable than tin-lead solder joints irrespective of test conditions. In fact the automotive industry has been using Sn/Ag for underhood applications for a

Hello Joseph, Sorry for the bad news but microcracking is a well known potential condition occuring with the SAC305 alloy. Microcracking is a condition being seen with many joints soldered with the SAC305 alloy. It is technically a shrinkage cavity

The data we have is from an IBM report. Below 100C the SAC reliability is almost double that of SnPb (-40 to 100C thermal cycle). When the upper end temp is increased to 125C the reliability drops to 75% of SnPb. I'd like to see the data that s

Bob, Great theory if you're selling SN100C, but I have to disagree that an alloy being 4C off eutectic will cause cracks. When a solder joint exits the solder wave, there is an immediate drop in temperature of 100C. so being off 4C is irrelevant.
