0402 Placement

Electronics Forum | Wed Jan 09 09:37:41 EST 2008 | flipit

I would suggest accepting components only in paper tape. I have had better luck with 0402s in punched paper over plastic embossed tape. You can also pick with oversized nozzles if your vision system does not give you trouble with seeing the nozzle.

GSM hypodermic vs. multiport nozzles

Electronics Forum | Thu Feb 25 15:05:17 EST 2010 | flipit

Multiport nozzles will work better if your pickup is not perfect. Has been a while but are the nozzles 08MPF? I used to pick 0402 chips with 08MPF nozzles. These had 5 holes and were black Delrin plastic. I looked at the 0402 using front lighting

Manual Stencil Alignment

Electronics Forum | Thu Jun 28 08:24:34 EDT 2001 | Steve Vargas

Herb: Try oversizing your stencil fiducial openings to maybe twice the size of the board fiducial. When aligning manually, look for uniformity in the annular ring which appears around the fiducial. Hope this helps.....

Big Board Production

At the risk of sounding like a commercial, but most companies do not realize this exists and it is certainly needed. Bliss Industries now has trays and tray carts to support handling and storage of these oversize boards. Several sizes available but

Dave, that's a cool idea and sounds like something that would actually work. I'd be tempted to go with oversized pads to increase the holding force. Unfortunately as an EMS we would have to work that through the customer approval system and as usual

Looking for trays to lay boards on in reflow oven

Thank you. Maybe I'll just order some oversized thick boards from the board house with no traces. There has to be a lower cost way than paying that kind of money they are asking for those products.

Pogo Pins

Yes, we soldered some Mil-Max pins on a functional test board before. Utter nightmare. We managed to finally get them on, but yes, terrible wetting, and they act as total thermal sinks. Make sure to oversize you pads.

Requirement for one lead in any one hole

Electronics Forum | Sat Feb 03 08:56:09 EST 2007 | davef

Multiple leads in a single PTH is prohibited because: * Need to be able to remove and replace any component without impacting another. * Oversized hole required will result in increased solder defects and could also lead to flux entrapment. * Counte

Reflow problem

Electronics Forum | Wed Sep 26 15:16:29 EDT 2012 | hegemon

Pads look WAY oversize for the LED leads. Perhaps the solder won't go to the LED because it is spreading across the pads on the PCB instead. The board pad vs. component lead size equation I see would make me expect some starvation of the joints at t

I've been chipping away on a solder bridging and poor fillet wetting problem for a few weeks now (new to the company) and I found two issues. First, after a review of stencil inventory, I found apertures to be oversized when compared to suggested di
