Stencil sink stink

Electronics Forum | Mon Mar 21 08:19:54 EST 2005 | Bob

Sounds like a flaw in your trap. It seams that during the pumping process the trap is ineffective or open, allowing normal sewer gases to bypass the trap and stink up your SMT area. This is similar to what happens when you do not use a drain for a lo

Stencil sink stink

I agree with dave. Two things prevent oders from drains. The "P" trap and the celing or roof vent. If the system is sealed from the pump on then it should run thru a "P" trap this prevents vapors from comeing back thru the pipe. To make sure suction

No it's not a dry or defective trap. The exit line of the stencil sink is piped into a regular slop sink. There are no sewer gas smells coming out of the slop sink trap.

Rigid Flex Wave Soldering

Electronics Forum | Wed Apr 04 16:54:58 EDT 2007 | pjc

Maybe more baking time is needed. Topside board temp too low. Moisture trapped in board. Top of through hole capped by component and trapping flux. http://www.speedlinetech.com/electrovert/electrovert-troubleshooting/index.htm

Socketed Parts (PLCC)

Water trapped under the PLCC (in the socket)during the wash was our reason for installing at final assembly.

BGA shorts that can't be found.

Could we be seeing trapped water or flux underneath the BGAs? Russ

Re: Via in the middle of a pad

Millerin: You are generally correct about plugging and over plating vias, but in Michaels case, the via is blind. Plugging would trap air between the bottom of the via and the plug material, causing an air pocket. When heated to soldering temperat

BGA Via Tenting

Electronics Forum | Fri Jan 21 19:30:11 EST 2005 | Dreamsniper

Hi T2, The purpose of this is that we want to make our rework robust. Whenever we rework BGA's we have solder getting trapped into those 1 sided tented vias and bet yah...they are hard to desolder! And during BGA resoldering these trapped solder will

PCB Delamination

Electronics Forum | Fri Jun 01 16:13:45 EDT 2012 | kahrpr

You also need to get with the PCB manufacturer. Their is a lot that can go wrong with that many layers. If the manufacture is trapping that much moisture. you may have a hard time baking it out. Dave and Graham are right about the time and energy. It

Solder in via holes causing printing problems

Electronics Forum | Thu Jan 06 06:15:49 EST 2005 | mattkehoe

We need some opinions about a situation that is causing problems in our process. The pcb's in question are .125 thick with a HASL finish. The boards are coming in with a large amount of solder trapped inside the via holes. Sometimes this solder is ac
