If the white residue is from a no-clean flux or no- clean solder flux core you can leave it on the board. (Consult with the flux or cored solder manufacturer) Because after being encapsulated with conformal coating the residue is sealed from humidity

KYZEN is pleased to announce that Dr. Mike Bixenman will present two papers at the upcoming IPC APEX EXPO at the San Diego Convention Center. “Electrochemical Methods to Measure the Corrosion Potential of Flux Residues” will be presented during Session S04 on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017 from 1:30-3 p.m. The paper was co-authored by David Lober and Anna Ailworth, KYZEN, and Bruno Tolla, Ph.D., Jennifer Allen, Denis Jean and Kyle Loomis from Kester Corporation. A review on applications of metal-based inkjet inks for printed electronics with a particular focus on inks containing metal nanoparticles, complexes and metallo-organic compounds. The review describes the preparation of such inks and obtaining conductive patterns by using various sintering methods: thermal, photonic, microwave, plasma, electrical, and chemically triggered. Various applications of metal-based inkjet inks (metallization of solar cell, RFID antennas, OLEDs, thin film transistors, electroluminescence devices) are reviewed.

The corrosion of Nickel-Palladium-Gold (Ni-Pd-Au) finish terminals in humid environments is known to be reduced with the application of a conformal coating such as acrylic. Corrosion has a higher rate of occurrence around the terminal ‘knee’ of a surface mount component, which may be reduced with the application of conformal coatings. Although radio frequency (RF) plasma processing is generally known to enhance conformity of conformal coating to surfaces through ionic bombardment, the effect on the functionality of assembled printed circuit boards (PCB) is not as well known. The purpose of this study is to assess whether RF plasma processing can enhance the adhesive and coverage qualities of an acrylic conformal coating on PCBs, specifically on Ni-Pd-Au terminals with a knee, and if plasma processing has an effect on the electrical functionality of components and fully assembled PCB.

hermetic systems. Common industrial solvents (alcohols, ketones, acetone, toluene, xylene) have a slight softening and swelling effect on NOMEX® Type 410 paper, similar to that of water. These effects are mainly reversible when the solvent is removed. The
