High Tg laminates

What are the main advantages of moving from a 140 degree C FR4 laminate to a higher Tg laminate 180 degree C ?. Would the higher Tg laminate be less susceptable to bow and twist ?. John Holland

We want to produce BGA�s which will be see burn in conditions of 140�C / 24h active tested. Now we think about problems for the solderball uniformity. Does anybody know about problems or about special solderball alloys for such productsconditions ?

The Tg of the resin commonly used in FR-4 is 140�C. Consider checking with your supplier to better understand the specific materials used in constructing your board.

Hussman, I know when the oven temp at around 140F and the relative humidity is below 10% and meet the J-STD requirement but I never see any recommendation from the supplier to store @ this temperature. Can U advise where I can get more information?

Fuji CP troubleshooting

We're getting an error on our CP643 that we can't seem to make sense of. It's a D1 axis error, but we're only getting it when we run a feeder on device 140. Any advice would be appreciated.

I would call it conservative, but definitely recommended. It sort of depends on your assembly design. We have run 140 boards lead free but are now using the 170. Russ

When I was in China for Nepcon Shenzhen (August 2005) I was told the XP 242E's are going as low as $140k USD. Not sure if for real or just a ploy (we are a re-seller). Could also be a regional thing (competition for market share in China).
