Hi Dave, The short answer is "not any significant amount" of moisture is removed during reflow. The temperature excursion is much too short. If you look at the physics of moisture diffusion inside a package you will see that only the surface moist

Hi mates, Yes, the lighter mass is a valid reasoning. in addition to the "lighter (mass) than thou" point of view, 1) the first reason for mounting active Parts (eg. IC, QFP, LGA...) is to minimize the temperature exposure of the Parts to a single

Assuming you're asking about double sided reflow soldering ... Use pad mating to lead wetting area. Bob Willis has found the ratio to be as much as 44 grams/sq in. Check Bob's site [Electronic Presentation Sevices] for more. Phil Zarro uses the

Like most things in electronic assembly, this is not astrophysics. People have pasted boards, placed components, turned the board up-side down, run the board through a reflow oven, and generalized about which components: * Fall off the board. * Don

What are pro's and con's of reflowing top side first and curing bottom side chip components, and then wave soldering bottom side? How about curing bottom side first and reflowing top side later? What percentage of companies run reflow/cure/wave for

We run double sided surface mount boards through our Heller oven without any parts falling off the bottom side unless they are too big/heavy. The trick we use is to set the bottom side temperature in the final 3 heat zones 10C-20C lower than the top

I am referring to reflowing twice. Fist time I reflow the up side, turn the PCB and reflow the bottom side. | By double reflow are you referring to double sided reflow? Or are you referring to reflowing twice? | | | | I would like to have informat

We are going to try double sided reflow for the first time. Can we use the same 63/37 paste on both sides? The board also has bare copper pads i'm pretty sure. will this present any challenges? The bottom side has a QFP on it. Should it stay on?
