Silver in the paste is present to minimise any negative effects of silver in the pcb finish or component terminations. 2% Ag prevent silver leaching thus giving a more reliable joint.

Imm silver holds-up to multiple thermal cycles very well. The things, we guess, are happening to make imm silver tough to solder after heating and sitting are: * Oxidation of the silver. * Reduction of the co-deposited organic anti-tarnish [used in

Often assemblers leave areas unsoldered for future component additions, modifications, and test points. On imm silver boards, these unsoldered areas become a real bear to solder/test later in life. One way to avoid that problem is deposit some solder

Hi Dave, Why does it become " a bear" if u leave it unsoldered ?? Does it oxidise or something ?? Question (1): Does Ag imm. PCB need to use Solder paste with AG ?? If yes, why. Question (2): Does Ag imm pcb have poorer surface finishes than HAS

1. Does anyone has seen results for the reliability of Solder Paste containing less than 1% Silver. (It is in use for soldering 0402 components because of Tombstones. 2. Is it common to use eutectic Solder Paste SnPb, without any silver, for regular

I fyour just using Sn/Pb in your paste even using nitrogen will lave you with slightly grainy joints. The silver from your PCB will disolve into the Sn/Pb at 'uncontrolled' rate what I mean is depending on the temperature and time above liquidous the

Responding to your questions ... RELIABILITY OF 1% SILVER SOLDER PASTE: Its as good as the next solder paste, all other things the same. Look at your back articles by Jennie Hang in SMT magazine. I want to say she wrote an article on the topic i

Indy, We use Palladium silver surface finish parts for silver epoxy attached parts only. It is our understanding that this finish is not for solder, but only silver epoxy attach. I expect that is you problem. Dave

Hi, We are Scottish manufacturing company considering a move to Immersion Silver finished PWB's from HASL. The driver behind it being the RoHS and WEEE legislation in Europe at present. My question is... We plan on using a Sn/Cu/Ni solder bar in o
