The holes are calibrated in MSetup. Generally, I have never had luck using the auto teach for the nozzle changer. We would teach them each manually. Before doing this, you need to narrow your issue down a bit more. Which head gives you this error?

Multiport nozzles will work better if your pickup is not perfect. Has been a while but are the nozzles 08MPF? I used to pick 0402 chips with 08MPF nozzles. These had 5 holes and were black Delrin plastic. I looked at the 0402 using front lighting

Based on the pickup surface area: 1. Use the biggest nozzle possible, 2.Keep in mind that some nozzles have bigger inside diameter hole(more vacuum) 3. Keep in mind that some pickup surfaces are rigid(not really flat surface) - use rubber tip nozzles

I could be wrong but I don't believe that you can start with any empty spindles. If it picks up nozzles, you will end up with more than one empty changer hole which will not work for the vacuum that is required to remove the nozzles from the spindle
