CP4-2 XY Table

Electronics Forum | Thu Dec 02 09:45:02 EST 1999 | Larry Johnson

Okay, I believe that the XY table on our CP4-2 is not working correctly. When we place smaller parts (603,805,RNETS, etc...) they aren't seated in the paste all the way. Larger parts aren't a problem. They are kind of "floating" on top of the paste.

Michael, IMP Printed Circuits in Adelaide ( Australia) have an old XY table / Digitiser head system that just needs a Maher controller to get it up and running. Their email is imppcb@codan.com.au attention Bob Armstrong. Regards Richard

Universal Dip Inserter 6796

Electronics Forum | Wed Jan 20 08:18:20 EST 1999 | Claude Couture

The situation: When I press the "ZERO" button of the dip inserter, the x-y table moves very slowly toward the -x -y corner. If I release the button, the x-y table stops. The 36 vdc is dead. I replaced the "1REC" (it was fried) and the problem is st

Firstly, Verify your Z-height per the procedure in the Maintenance manual. In general, release the placement stopper and rotate cam onto flat surface of board with z-axis at zero. There should be 0.15 mm compression of the spring

PCB Supports

The Red-E set tooling is the lightest that we have found on the market. A key metric when attaching to a moving XY table like that of the 4791 HSP. Simple, lightweight, relatively inexpensive. I can't find many issues with that. T. Vick

Thanks you for the information LUPO, specially with component minimum clearance. I will also check the XY table for movement accuracy. What specific parameters do you check with your SPC charts. Thanks Crishan

CP4 of death

Just thought I'd post and let you all know, SMT Research helped me identify the issue here. Turns out it's the outer moveable rail on the XY table. The clamp bracket brakes were in bad shape, and the outer rail was slipping.
