Lead Free soldering profile for SMT

Electronics Forum | Fri Jun 06 07:23:18 EDT 2003 | johnw

Hi Kevin, the profile doesn't actually qualify something as lead free or not it's purely the Pb content of the assembly that does this. Currently the understanding of the limitations of the lead in the jont is 0.1% by weight or less. So as long as y

Conversion from SAC305 to SN100C

Electronics Forum | Wed Feb 04 03:30:56 EST 2009 | smartasp

Hi All We intend to switch fro SAC305 to SN100C, which has been giving us great test results. Unfortunately we have a technical guy at head quarter, which refuses to accept the SN100C as it has a 10 deg C higher melting point as SAC. I argue besides

BGA's ramp up rate in a convection oven

Electronics Forum | Mon Dec 27 18:44:14 EST 2004 | Mark

I am testing some BGA's (PBGA 30mm x 30mm) to evaluate the maximum ramp rate we can achieve in our reflow oven. Temperature is being measured at the body(top) of the component / not leads. After several trials (with various oven settings), the high

Re: How to do with tombstoning for component '0402'

Electronics Forum | Thu Nov 02 17:15:34 EST 2000 | Erdem Bilaloglu

We are using semi-circular land pattern and 0.004" smaller appertures on screen. With stable rising slope (max:2.6degC/sec)we have not experienced any tombstonning so far.

Re: Wavesoldering

It sounds like the temperature of wave is a little lower. It should be 245~250 deg.C for solder Sn63/Pb37.

Sounds like a problem I ran into recently. In my case it was a problem with via holes which were used as test points on our in-circuit tester. My problem was caused by moisture in the boards. My cure was a 24 hour bake at 100 deg c.

Pallet absorb thermal heat : compensate by higher deg-C?

Electronics Forum | Tue Jun 12 09:30:42 EDT 2001 | Rob Fischer

I assume the material you are using is black. This may sound far fetched but try using a lighter color material. Going from black to gray has given users as much as fifteen degrees F. less in heat loss.

Pallet absorb thermal heat : compensate by higher deg-C?

Electronics Forum | Tue Jun 12 11:28:30 EDT 2001 | CPI

Rob: Wouldn't that only apply to IR ovens. If using a true convection oven the color of the material wouldn't hinder output at all "Right". Dont want to see someone spend money on new tooling if unnecessary.

Pallet absorb thermal heat : compensate by higher deg-C?

Ian, It appears to me you are trying to reflow the star wars project. All this talk about thermal absorbtion, heat differential, etc., it' only a reflow profile? If you read back over the suggestions of all other memos, you will find the solution.

Hand Soldering

Dr Lee, What is the best recommended setting temperature for solder iron station? 350 deg C ?? The contact of iron with the pad/lead should be for about 2-3 sec, is that true ?
