Pin Hole Issue after Reflow Soldering - Passive Components

Electronics Forum | Tue Feb 13 14:39:52 EST 2018 | horchak

Your profile reflow temps are too low. Omnix338 has a melting temp of 217-221C. Your right on the edge, and your soak temps should be closer to 150 than 180C. Bottom line too high a soak, too low a reflow. Take it or leave it.1874

Having formerly worked for a solid rocket motor manufacturer, we were extremely concerned with ESD. I'm not sure of the specifics, but all our floors were painted (concrete). All employees in these areas wore steel toed, conductive shoes, to dissip

N2 vs. Air Reflow Soldering

Electronics Forum | Fri Dec 15 08:44:17 EST 2000 | DaveJ

I need some advise from the reflow experts. In your experience in nitrogen versus air reflow, what would be the differences in profile parameters? For example, if I profiled a board in nitrogen and achieved (for a particular component) ramps rates un

Re: Lead Free Solder used in BGA

Electronics Forum | Tue Jan 12 19:57:37 EST 1999 | Ross Berntson

| Some of my friends ask me if sombody use lead free solder ball on BGA, espically PBGA packages. I wonder if 96.5Sn/3.5Ag (m.p .221 oC) or 58Bi/42Sn (m.p. 138 oC) would be suitable candidates? Do you have any experience on this subject? | | Kelvin

resistor and capacitor naming codes for smt.

Electronics Forum | Sun Sep 27 10:42:35 EDT 1998 | l atch

I'm looking for a chart that will help me identify smt resistors and capacitors. I have figured out a few on my own. a resistor with the numbers 510 printed on it was a 51 ohm resistor. numbers 221 was a 220 ohm resistor. numbers 102 was a 1k resis

What standards should electronic manufacturing meet?

Electronics Forum | Thu Apr 01 19:35:10 EST 2004 | dougt

I guess I asked the wrong question. For an OEM that builds electronic equipment that is used by industry in the production of pc boards, what specification(s) should the OEM be meeting for electrical safety? I have been given some paperwork that ref

Lead-free solder

Electronics Forum | Wed Apr 14 20:24:48 EDT 2004 | Ken

What do you mean the solder must "survive" 260C? What is your target temperature? Is it dictated by a component, the substrate or the solder alloy? Do you require a eutectic alloy? If not, the selection of alloys grows. (these are from memory...n

Lead Based Paste / Lead-Free BGA

I've read all the SMTNet threads available on this topic, been to a couple seminars, and read some articles, and the general consensus seems to be "it can be done, but shouldn't." However, at my company, we have a Pb-Free (SAC alloy) 256 IO BGA comi
