Heat guns and component damage

Electronics Forum | Tue Jan 31 15:51:04 EST 2006 | russ

Relays huh? I can tell you from previous experience that relays are not a good heat gun candidate. Did you check how long this part can withstand the 240? I do not know what the 4 setting is on a liester but it is probably well in excess of the 24

Intermetallics and reflow profile

Electronics Forum | Tue May 02 15:29:14 EDT 2000 | M. F. Roe

I am looking for public papers or articles on intermetallic formation as a function of reflow profile. Most solder paste vendors specify peak temperature and time above liquidus, but I am particularly interested in what happens to intermetallic grow

Tombstoning

Electronics Forum | Wed Jun 12 03:26:03 EDT 2002 | edahi

We are currently having gross tombstoning with 0402 capacitors. We are using HiPb Solder Paste mounted on Laminate substrates. We are assembling Flip Chip BGA's. Temp @ Reflow is around 230-240 C to meet the thermal requirements for both die bump

Lead free components in 62/36/2 paste prob.

Electronics Forum | Wed Nov 23 00:22:30 EST 2005 | mskler

Thanx for your only reply!! I already increased temprature now its actualy on board is 240*c. I would like to discuss one more thing if I go for lead free solder paste & using some components wich are not lead free then what will be the result. Has a

SAC solder balls reflow with Sn/Pb paste - Voids Issue

* Try 1.5C / sec from RT to 165C * Hot soak at 165-175C for up to 2 minutes (I'd start with 60 seconds flat soak.) * 60-90 seconds TAL (I's start with 60) * 230-240C Peak. Thanks, Mario

Vapor Phase Oven

The unique heat on the PCB is the big advantage and you also can´t exceed the temperature of the boiling point of your medium (we use a 240°C Galden). So small components are not "overheated" until the bigger ones like DPAKS are soldered. You also ne

Anyone know what Solder lead use to connect Thermocouple wire to PCB?

Electronics Forum | Mon Jan 19 20:26:07 EST 2015 | cspasol

Anyone can help me what kind of solder lead use to connect thermocouple wire to pcb for profiling? We use ordinary lead on our profiling and it flats on when reaching 230C temperature. Our required maximum temp is 240C.

SMT component temperature spec

Electronics Forum | Mon Mar 04 17:47:44 EST 2019 | slthomas

The lowest peak temp. I've had the pleasure of working with is 240°C +/- 5°C. I can't imagine a manufacturer going much below that and still saying it's lead-free compatible. It would be interesting to know just how much TAL plays into the affect

Printed Circuit Boards

All of us wave solder FR4 all day-long, not to say we have never had problems doing it. The selection of the laminate material should depend on the burnin application. We'd be concerned about a FR4 burnin board that saw GT 150*C for extended period

ROHS 6/6 BGA device in Non-ROHS reflow

Hi All, Is there any way to use ROHS6/6 [Non-leaded] BGA device in Non-ROHS reflow [240 Deg C] temp. environment. I need to do this because Leaded [ROHS5/6] device I was using is obsolete and Non-leaded[ROHS6/6] drop-in-replacement part is availab
