Electronics Forum | Fri May 01 14:46:52 EDT 2015 | aprosser

Good afternoon, We are running some aluminum boards through a 7 zone reflow oven which have 2 4 pin right angled headers on the ends that are skewing. Does anyone have any suggestions to prevent this from happening?

Hi, I'm looking for a copy of the Omniflo oven firmware. I'm talking about the model running under Win NT. Oven vintage is 1999-2001. Our oven is a 7 zones but I thing there's only one firmware for all the Omniflo ( 7, 10 12 zones . The original was

In 2014 we paid about $40K USD for a new Heller 1707 MKIII (no nitrogen) which is a 7 zone oven. One does not need a 8-10 zone oven unless you are doing high volume. We use the 1707 for everything including lead or lead-free solder, 0.031" to 0.093

Nathan, look into a 7 or 8 zone oven. Depending on your baord size, a 5 zone may get you by. If you do plan to get larger work orders, go big on your oven now. It will pay off in the long run. Plus your window for profiling will be easier.

castellated lead aperture design

With a 7 thou stencil, we'd go 1 to 1. So for a more typical 6 thou stencil, we'd bump the aperture area by 1.15, maybe 1.2. We make no distinctions between 'innies' and 'outies'. Are you talking about castellations on land grid devices [ie, BCC, L

Water soluble pastes generally work best with a ramp-to-spike reflow profile. Check your paste manufacturer's recommended profile. There are many factors that impact your profile; board thickness, component density, buried thermal masses, board si

Well, I was using a quad QSV-1 for boards this size. Not the fastest, but it was able to handle the large boards in a pass through machine. Keep in mind the board thickness, as well. Anything over 0.2" will not fit in the clamps of the conveyors.

Eric, how does the upgrade work? Have you actually tested it after installation? Which tests have you performed? There are standard Y2K test programs currently being used, e.g. I have seen a "7-critical-dates" checklist which details shutdown-rollov

Steve: Take a look at the attached url. As with all testing systems, tooling / fixturing is costly. But, not as bad as a bunch of "Bed of Nails" test fixtures. Glad you had one of those great weekends, had to spend mine fishing,, again ,, Caught a

Dave, Thanks for the info! Yes, I have read the IBM document and realized that I was missinformed about the paste volume. I need 5000 to 5600 cubic mils of paste. Running the numbers I get a 32 mil aperture with a 7 mil step (the rest of the board
