Has anyone experienced problems lately with excess flux residue left on the board after reflow when using Alpha UP78 OSP paste? We are getting a component failure that the designers are blaming on too much residue. Thanks

Nope, haven't heard anything. I'd check your reflow profile, contact Alpha. Also, UP78 is a very old solderpaste product. I would consider switching to one of their newer products.

Yes, old not obsolete. I believe it may be Alpha's first no-clean solderpaste model. Their most current NC model is OM 5000.

Hi Patrick, For UP 78 the best profile is also the easiest. Straight ramp to 220-225 1-2 degrees C per second TAL 45-60 seconds drop it staight off The Tech bulletin says the exact same thing. Former Alpha Guy here

All I can say about Alpha and their GOTT-DAMN website is THEY SUCK!! I refuse to register to view product literature... for that reason, Alpha Metals, you won't be looked at for my pb-free paste or bar solder evals.

I use Alpha 857 W.S. for wave is that what you mean? If so, I love this stuff, it solders everything. one downside to it is convection (wave , rework) can dry it out and leave white hazes and even residues at the joints.
