Regarding choosing of correct SMD Capacitor for PCB Assembly

Electronics Forum | Sat May 09 09:10:19 EDT 2015 | sarason

Might I add, avoid Y5V if you want a reliable design and Marc is correct do look at those charts for X7R voltage dip under load, if you are doing low volume, save yourself the trouble and time, just overrate. sarason

Capacitor Failure

Hi We have a new product that has a 22uF 0805 X5R 6.3V Chip Cap. It is placed on standard 0805 pads but is 1.25 mm high and although we are not getting the best fillet it appears sufficient. The trouble is we are getting a small number of returns

Capacitor Shorts after Depaneling

Electronics Forum | Wed May 10 12:13:16 EDT 2006 | scombs

We have a 6 up panel with a 1206 part .082" from the board scoreline. After depanelization when we run the board through ICT it fails for a short at that location. We have visually inspected at high magnification for any cracks in the body and at the

I Think I understand your problem. But I think it would be best if you just go in the program and change/check your componet height as needed. It does not take much time. Check your cap height, modify shape data as needed, generate your program and

Ag/Pd termination reflow soldering issues

Electronics Forum | Thu Apr 19 16:54:32 EDT 2007 | flipit

I don't suggest using Pd/Ag or Ag/Pd terminated components unless you are forced to use them. You often see a line of demarcation that suggests a poorly wetted solder joint. I have had bad experiences with Pd/Ag terminated capacitors. Even when so

Hi Guys, Thanks for the response. To answer your questions... The compoments we are placing and experiencing trouble with are generally 1206 components. It isn't just one manufacturer either. The one part though we have most problems with though is

Re: 0402 part identification

| I would like comments on how the industry handles 0402 parts, regarding identification. Since the parts are too small to be labeled, how can we accurately identify the parts and or values, either before or after assembly? | When the boards go to te

Hey Bob, turn DOWN the volume. Waint daff yano!!! On the surface of things, if youve been to a dozen board houses that have not been able to properly separate boards, wed kinda be inclined to think its you and not them. [In your defense, we hav
