Hi wolfgang, I think Pc is not talking about the tombstone cause this terminal lifted is different from tombstone. The terminal of chip is still there but can not be solder anymore so we have to replace the chip. I also facing this problem. So can yo

Hi wolfgang,Dave & PC: What I facing are: 1. The component lie flat on the board but only one side can get solder. The pad is ok, problem is with the chip. 2.I desolder the chip and go to view it under microscope and found that there is a line near t

Soldering to a nickel plated battery terminal

No we have a battery spring that is soldered directly to a PCB (standard tin plated copper PCB). The Battery spring supplier (and I have no confirmation he makes them or buys them) claims they are tin plated. When trying to solder to them it is very

If the tab is Sn plated, you can solder to it as long as your iron has enough power (watts). If you continue to have trouble then it probably isn't Sn plated.

I assume that you're talking about wanting to solder to metal tabs that are spot welded to the battery terminal. These tabs are not meant to be soldered. The metal was special selected for welding. In the old days, you could buy plumbing flux at th

Hello all. We have been having some problems soldering to what we believe is a nickel plated spring steel battery terminal to a PCB. We have tried scrapping , then tinning, dipping and still have problems. Are there any special fluxes or pre-treats t

Surface mountable coin cell terminal shims or similar

I'm looking for some SMD shims or something to solve this problem. We have a coin cell on a PCB and the side that contacts the PCB also has traces under the cell that don't connect to the cell. So I'm after some small dots of something suitable for

It should only be a visual thing. What may be happening is that all the thermal energy being driven into the wave solder pallet to get good soldering is causing the no-clean residues to burn up a bit, causing the discoloring. Check to see if they hav

It is strange that you're having issues while using the same process parameters (including stencil) that worked successfully before. It doesn't guarantee that it's not one of those parameters changing in a manner that's not apparent, but it does sugg
