First Pass Yield

Electronics Forum | Thu Nov 13 12:08:50 EST 2008 | cisridn

I define First Pass yield without any repairs. But I only consider a PCB to need repair if it fails test. Our boards are inspected before testing and any work done before testing, I consider to be rework and is part of the SMT process.

First-Pass Yield Information

I work for a memory module manufacturer and I am interested in obtaining information on typical first-pass yield numbers and failure rates in the memory module industry for benchmarking purposes. Any information provided would be greatly appreciated

Our SQE's want to benchmark the first pass yield requirements that we place on our CM's - currently they are at 95% - does this seem reasonable?

FIRST PASS YIELD vs DPMO?

Has anyone out there successfully switched from First Pass Yield to DPMO metrics and most importantly, sold MGMT on the change?

Expected First Pass Yield for selective soldering

We are experiencing widely varying First Pass Yields for selective soldering. Some boards are near 100% while others are less than 50% depending on the pitch and general complexity of the board. Question: If you are running 100 boards through your s

Hello everyone, can you tell me hoe you define your first pass yield? In my company it seems that it goes wrong: 1. smt 2. Repair 3. Wave 4. Test(some repairs) 5. FPY Somehow it looks wrong to me. Should it be separately for all processes or it sh

ICT Gage R&R

We are having an issue with repeatability and reproduceability in our ICT process. The first pass yield is low but the retest yield is significantly higher. Has anyone out there have done a Gage R&R in their ICT process?

How do you capture the workmanship details on a "per joint" basis? I have recently implimented first pass yield in SMT but it is based on the whole part and not the number of joints. And yield is calculated by PCB failure rate..a PCB with a solder b

I would think it would be more productive to compare DPMO. Particularly across different products. A simple board of 20 components should yield much higher than a complex board of 200 components. Also, some consideration should be given to the dif
