Hi, We used to clean 20 pieces SMT inductors before but no problem with this process. Please confirm what type of inductors is it SMT or hole type. What type of chemical and machine you are currently using? Maybe I can help you out.

We have been using Coilcraft 1008CS inductors for several years. We have had problems with them turning green when we use lead-free solder paste. We have tried several solder pastes (water soluble and no-clean)from different manufacturers, but the

After wash cycle, some of the inductors are open (broken wire). Resistance across the two ends should be below 4 ohms (normal) however on broken wire shows above 200 ohms. I am wondering if anyone else has seen this problem. We are using High-Reliabi

I am unable to find a reliable source to determine the amount of package damage allowable on an SMT coil inductor with a ceramic case. Where can I find information of this nature.

Does anybody have a slick way to hold down large inductors? Like 2 to 3 inches in diameter. There must be something better than ty-wraps and RTV.

We already tried that. The sugar seems to have a bad reaction with the varnish on the Inductors. Do they make a sugar-free version?? Can you send me some samples??

DaveF, would the adhesive be strong enough to keep the part from vibrating free over time? DO you know any part numbers? These inductors have quite a high mass. I would profer to lay them down on thier side but there is not enough room.

Ask the distributor (or coilcraft) what the termination material is & if they do alternative ones. These maybe from old stock. If you get no joy have a look at Epcos & Murata who both have wide ranges of surface mount inductors.

I have some large ROHS SMT inductors that are moving during the reflow process. I have tried adding extra solder, gluing and doing both. I don't know what else to try, any suggestions?

Found the issue. The footprint is incorrect. The inductor completely shields the paste from heat. Slid the inductor on the pad to expose the pad and paste, and perfect solder joint. This part was a last minute design change with a larger body.
