I previously did a search on "peel back force" and there were a few results, and there were a few hits that say EIA-481 is the standard, but nothing on what the standard force range is. A search on "cover tape" yeilds many hits about breaking cover

We all seem to have forgotten about cover tape peel force testers. GPD makes them as do others I suppose. I would ask the tape and reel house if they have a tester. If they don't I would consider using someone else. Otherwise as another poster s

yes, sounds more like you are having a peel force problem. suggest you look at buying a tester to make sure you are being supplied quality reels, as said above.

We've been breaking the cover tape on components from a specific supplier. I am curious what the standard is for the peel back force range, so I can better know if it is a feeder issue or component supplier. Of course the machine vendor is blaming

Hi Yes we run into this fairly often, but rarely with 8mm, mostly 12 and 16mm and the tape usually splits rather than completely breaking.I would also be interested in hearing about others problems and if there is a specification dealing with this so

One of my customer asking me about my capability on soldering nickel strip onto the PCB pad. Given the size of the pad of 80 mil X 80 mil, and he want to ensure that we can pass 4.5kg peel force(solder wire Sn63/Pb37). Anybody with this experience ?
