Ditto what Russ said. We are doing the same with the same results. We also will add 10-15mils to the toe end of the pads to have some chance at forming a toe fillet. MFG'r recommended padstacks are not to be trusted. We only process with no-clean

We generaly reduce 25% and get great heat sink capability. Mind you that we do not perferate the pad with vias as recommended. Our toe ends are not plated, so getting any toe fillet is impossible.

It is possible to infer that the lead is lifted based on the toe fillet appearance, but it's not as reliable as say a laser or xray inspection. This is usually done by varying the light source location and or color and looking at the images resultin

I'm confused, How can your customer possibly EXPECT a fillet if the pad is smaller than the part? I thought everyone was over the whole toe fillet thing many years ago. Wasn't there some papers from NASA nearly ten years ago that advocated the "less

Hi, I have a fine pitch QFP (TQFP100) and after reflow soldering, i got less solder ( not enough fillet) on the toe area but have good fillet at the heel. Does this mean that I have a weak solder joint or is my process not too good ? What is importa
