We save some pieces to make fixtures, but most of our FR4 scrap goes to trash. We of course recycle all of the aluminum PCBs.

Yea I thought basically the same thing. Possibly increase our own costs meanwhile the FR4 still ends up stuffed into the ground.

1.Yes but you want specific SPI & AOI machines. Same manufacturer can provide both. 2. Yes but not as well as an SPI machine. 3. Don't understand question. 4-7 You should do your research, or hire someone with the expertise you require.

I suppose you could line up one reel per gantry if you have one of those 4 gantry chipshooters that knocks out 200Kcph...

I have successfully used laser marked bar codes on PCBs. Use an area without any copper so that you are marking on the FR4 only
