How to calculate the ROI

Electronics Forum | Tue Jun 26 19:59:08 EDT 2001 | davef

They always tell you to calculate ROI, when they want to blow you off. Do a net search using - calculate ROI. Links to three pretty good descriptions on this are: http://www.dmreview.com/editorial/dmreview/print_action.cfm?EdID=2487 http://www.eval

Re: Wave Solder Dwell Time

Electronics Forum | Tue Nov 07 02:50:41 EST 2000 | CharTrain

A solder wetting balance will indicate a time of less than one second for wetting to occur to a solderable surface. The additional time is required to get the metalized surfaces up to soldering temperature. A single sided board has very little mass a

Re: FLUXED WIRES

Performing a wetting balance test would be very difficult. The flux cored wire "configuration" is just not compatible with the methodology of the wetting balance test. If the wetting balance is a must, then you might ask the vendor for the flux for

Borderline, unbalanced squuegees

First, we don't know dip about nonbalanced squeegee. We clipped the above gif from: Solder Paste Printing Inspection: An Inside Look; E Litman, System Engineer, Orbotech; SMT January, 2004 Second, Tekscan talks about a product: I-Scan force and pre

From a process perspective, I dont know if you should be concerned ... You've told us nothing about your process. THE BOOK JEDEC MO-51 allows 6 thou warp in smaller [1mm pitch] BGA and 8 thou in larger [ 1.27mm and 1.5mm pitch] BGA. The increase

| Looking for Suppliers of surface mount wetting balance equipment. I've used Kester's equipment. It conforms to, and performs in accordance with requirements Dave stated. It's expensive stuff ($32K last time I bought one). For this reason, you migh

Philips Comet GEM Programing

Electronics Forum | Thu Feb 02 16:51:32 EST 2006 | fasst1

Greg, FYI, the concept of the Comet is that 1/2 of the board is populated on each table. This is in an effort to reduce the total transfer time hit per board. The on machine optimizer should be able to handle the split of the program. If you need

Hi.. Move the XY arm to the center of the machine. Turn on the servo then immediately hold “LOWER” then press “ORIGIN”. You should see the message now on the screen “DRIFT CHECK”. The arm will start to drift without an emergency condition occurr

reflow / soldering temperature

I concur with your second approach. A profile needs to be tailored to the design of the board, the components, and the solder paste. Your first approach seems to try to balance lower quality soldering with a lower process complexity.
