Silver Immersion Finish - Moisture bake out guideline?

Electronics Forum | Mon Apr 26 14:40:07 EDT 2010 | blnorman

We had one product that used immersion silver plating. There were a couple of instances where we saw tarnishing, and elemental analysis confirmed the presence of sulfur. These boards did have the anti-tarnish sheets between boards, but somehow they

We are now building 48 inch (1200mm) SMT assemblies.

Electronics Forum | Wed May 04 08:42:53 EDT 2016 | sumote

I heard 48" and thought about a 48x48 board. I never thought about it being slender. PVC would be heavy (costing more to ship), there are cardboard tubes that you can get cut that long for cheaper. Sounds like you have your process dialed in.

Depanel Scraps?

Electronics Forum | Wed Jan 27 13:30:44 EST 2021 | dontfeedphils

What is everyone doing with their scraps from the depanel process? Our scraps (rails and any FR4 filling in blank spaces of the panel) don't contain any copper content so none of the local metal/electronics recycling outfits will take it. Are you a

I am about to place a huge PO for ESD boxes. Our assemblies need to be placed horizontally in the stainless racks until wavesoldered, but after the wash they will be placed in the boxes. The boxes have a conductive film but they are still cardboard

Storing non-framed stencils

Electronics Forum | Tue Jun 15 17:00:27 EDT 2004 | Rob

I'll jump on this bandwagon too... A crude method was buying a bread rack and widening it to the width of a fixed stencil. Since we get our foils from A-Laser, we get these card board squares. I would tape three of these pieces together to make a som

ROHS compliant marking Ink

Electronics Forum | Thu Jun 15 13:41:12 EDT 2006 | patrickbruneel

Yes there is RoHS certified ink it just cost twice as much as the regular ink. Just kidding Some people ask for RoHaaS compliance on cardboard boxes, pencils etc. What a mess $%^$ To answer your question, Ink is made from ethanol (ethyl alcohol) and

Solder on gold finger

Electronics Forum | Thu Jul 20 05:04:30 EDT 2006 | bing007

We had a similar problem with gold contact pads. Cleanliness is paramount. If you are using foil tensioning system, wash the foil in a stencil wash before use as the cardboard cassettes may be contaminated. Be very careful when loading into a frame f

CONTROL OF FLUX DEPOSITION

Electronics Forum | Fri Jun 22 11:09:01 EDT 2007 | realchunks

Sup G! Normally when spray fluxers get neglected, the spray pattern is the first thing affected. To actually 'see' this, we cut out a piece of cardboard the same size and length of the board. Run it over the fluxer and then turn itover and look at

Fluxer Traverse Speed

Electronics Forum | Wed Sep 30 13:13:16 EDT 2009 | mikesewell

I never calculate it when I setup a profile...I have a feel for our fluxer setting and adjust based on belt speed and width. I also have different nozzles and a pressure setting to play with. Inspect the bottom of the board for good coverage. Runn

Depanel Scraps?

Electronics Forum | Thu Jan 28 21:00:26 EST 2021 | charliedci

I use FCT Recovery. During the last 6 months we've been going thru a 6S mission here so we have scrapped old equipment, shelving, anything with the least little metal in it. We sent them some cardboard (by mistake), they sent that back. Now we do sen
