If the machine is on it's way..... Question is 1. What if the machine is on its way / remote site...and need to estimate (say 90-95%) probability ? A1. 1 x 8 hour shift 65% x 1 of software estimate or stop watch estimate run on same machine in a dr

The latest software packages and stopwatch will do the job but if your manager is anything like mine he wants to know straight away from the BOM. If you split the bom down between placement machines i.e. caps and resistors etc on chipshooter and ICs

I have come across a rash of failed assemblies that have 0805 capacitors and resistors, bottom side glued, wave soldered and washed. Trouble shooter reported touching up the solder joints on a few areas and the boards would pass test. I had a look a

What are some of the Chip-Shooter machines that have this Golden Board comparison? I am aware of a dimensional image overlay but no measurement is performed by the machine to determine accuracy on these systems that I am aware of. -JAX

Are there any equipment manufacturers that provide this option? I have a potential customer who has stated the other CM's he has looked at has this option on their equipment. I have never heard of an optical comparator built into a pick and place mac

| I know there was some discussion a few months ago on this topic but I don't think a good solution was offered for checking CpK using chips using a chip shooter. I am looking for a way to measure this on our Fuji CP6-4000. Any suggestions? | | Je

Hi I think you already have the answer. It isn't the same as the true comparator of yesteryear, yet YES, some of the assembly machines have visualization post placement, compared to a golden board or dimensional images imported into the software.

Are you sure your custoemr didn't get a little confused with what he saw or was told? When he says optical comparator is he talking about the basic component recognition system? some machines when showing the component (on the CRT) show a template th

i am getting a lot of dimension variation in some chip parts (like coils). Using Panasonic MVII-F chip shooter, I am inspecting the part with transmissive lighting (back ligth)centering with the square shape of the part. I attempted to trick the mach

Long time, no see Doc. If you want to use an SOJ algorithm you can probably get away with manipulating the height of the part to get the lighting to refract in the areas you need to. Beware of parts parachuting if you adjust to much, although you sho
