I've been tasked with increasing the CCA throughput in our Conformal Coating workcenter. My first approach will be to look into a more *automated* approach for the masking process. We currently use a manual method of using masking tape prior to con

Guys Does anyone have any bright ideas with regards to masking a PLCC socket with via holes directly below the socket, prior to conformal coating ? We've tryed kapton tape and peelable masks but not with desirable results. Our coating process is a t

We've used masking tape and peelable (pink) mask to mask our boards before conformal coating for a long, long time. This is a huge time sink, and increases our lead times (particularly because of the cure time for the pink mask). What are other com

Try using Kapton Tape or masking tape dots instead of the liquid mask.

The easy part is to determine which parts should be coated. The harder part is making sure the parts that should not be coated do not get coated. I don't even want to think about the amount of labor and materials I've lost due to conformal coat get

Is the frame placed on assembly as a guide to install the masking tape?

By the time they've reached me/conformal coat they're depaneled (assuming they were panelized at all). Also looked at the tape dot method, but that's a no go as well due to coverage needs.

Not exactly SMT but something I recently did that might save you lots of time and money: Complex high $ assy that has 25+ conformal coat keep out areas - most different shapes. All locations are dimensioned on customers' print. We tried a one piec

I will be starting a conformal coating process soon, I am looking for any pointers on 1) Best method for masking components, tape mask, liqued mask 2) Which is best Spray or Dip? 3) Compatiblity with no clean solder paste (flux residue) I have Mil
