SRS Machine Issue..What about the dross recycling

Electronics Forum | Mon Dec 28 10:36:25 EST 1998 | Brian Conner

We are looking into a SRS machine, and one question keeps coming up, "If we pull out all the solder, will the recycling company refuse to purchase the remaining dross?" Anyone who out there that uses a SRS machine(Solder Recovery System) I would app

Dross formation rates for SnCu and SAC are roughly 2.5 times the rate for SnPb (Hwang et al., 2004) Methods for reducing dross are: * Lower pot temperature * Run pump speed slower and only when soldering * Check solder contaminants to BS219, ASTM

Has anybody ever use this method to reclaim the solder from dross. I tested this $10 gadget, it's used to press potato to make mash potato. The result is comparable to a $20k machine that basically does the same thing, i.e.: compress dross to squeeze

Mohammed, The first suggested place to start with your question would probably be with your flux Mfr. Push them! The quantity of dross is effected by several factors: The higher your solder pot temp., the higher your dross level... but don't go too

We're not sure the specifics that BLT Circuit Services Ltd referenced, but many companies use dross reducing agents in their wave solder pots. Among dross reducing agent suppliers: * Fry [4100 Sixth Ave, Altoona, PA 16602; 814-946-1611 F814-944-8094

Hi Dave sorry not been back the Tin/P regenerator is controlled amounts of Phos additive that metallurgically reduces the dross. We do not recommend chemical methods for dross reduction as many salts/chemicals used could be hygroscopic in nature and

I'd love to get to the point that I could discuss the impact of flux on dross formation. Until then, I fight with proper solder pot temperature, maintaining enough pump speed, and solder contaminants.
