What's the bad rap on IR? I know that ERSA has a dark IR that they say heats evenly. I worry about the entire location being heated though.

I need advice from someone who has already soldered this part or similar fine-pitch BGA with metal heatsink on top Should I solder it in the oven or it's better with a rework station (IR 550A Ersascope) Thanks All

Hi Larry- Be wary of which IR systems you use, dark IR (ERSA) maintains only the positive effects of infrared use in that this infrared medium wavelength has the optimal absorbtion/reflection ratio between light and dark colors. Therby, guaranteeing

Hi guys, I am thinking of buying a used Ersa IR/PL 650. I have read in some threads, that it is quite a good and reliable rerwork station. My usecase is mainly high mass pcbs. In the description of the manufacturer it states, that this station is mai

Our company wants to buy a rework station for BGA's. I would like to know what is a good BGA rework station. IR or hot air? Do we need a rework station with optical placement or can BGa's be placed manually during rework. We have seen a demo of an ER

Any concerns on the IR in melting connectors etc. simply cover the part with aluminum foil. That will prevent any heat from attacking the component. The Ersa unit is in my mind the best bang for the buck.

Can anyone tell me an approximate cost of the PDR 410 and/or ERSA IR rework station? Is the main advantage of using these systems over a hot air machine in that nozzles are not needed?
