One thing that it doesn't make sense, I have never seen the GSM picking up one component leads down, present it to the camera leads down and reject it. Just so it can pick two more components from the same reel and present it leads up and accept it.

We just powered up a used GSM1 for the first time and it seems to boot and initalize ok. It is running UPS 3.2.2c. The first thing we noticed upon initial power up is that there is a lot of 'noise' on the monitors. Is this normal due to being designe

You will have to upgrade your software. You should be able to get free upgrades from Universal. You will also need to make an upgrade to your VME.

We run these all the time. Agree with other posts. I tried a few times to read leads on these with mixed results. Leadless is best. On GSM - run as leadless or chip and crank the lighting up on 2.6 or 4.0 ULC. You should get good centering.
