Good afternoon, Readings from thermocouple fixed by kapton tape only are inaccurate. This is the fact. At least you need to fix thermocouple with aluminum tape covered by kapton tape. Pete C is right. High temperature solder connection is a preferre

Robert McKeown Company makes thermally conduct Al tape. KIC did a study on which method (Kapton Tape, Aluminum Tape, Hi-Temp Solder) is the most repeatable. The study can be found in their website: http://www.kicthermal.com Al Tape placed 2nd, and

I don't understand the issue with Kapton as long as you put a slight load on the tc so it can't lift. It takes a little more tape but it seems to work. Not as well as HT solder but much more convenient.

Dave: After the stencil was made with apertures for a connector on this PCB, it was discovered that the connector would have to be handsoldered after SMT reflow. If the solder deposits are left to reflow on the pads, it makes it difficult for the o

"Readings from thermocouple fixed by kapton tape only are inaccurate." I keep hearing this, but I haven't heard why, exactly. Why would they be any less accurate than with Al tape, which by nature of it's conductivity can provide an inaccurate measu

Bernie, If the pads are for a chip component and only about a half a pad off without anything else in the misregistered area, go ahead and use the stencil as is. Surface tension of the solder at liquidus should cause it to wick back to the pad, even

If Kapton tape doesn't work, I would recommend eating a few hundred bucks and ordering a new stencil. I think your asking for more trouble trying to plug the apertures with dried paste, glue, or anything else. It will dislodge sooner or later and pro

I've got a set of apertures on a stencil that I would like to "plug" or block off. In the past we've done this with Kapton tape, but since this location is close to a fine pitch component, the thickness of the tape prevents good gasketing at the fin

| Due to an foul up on my part, a circuit board ECO snuck up on me and I have a solder paste stencil that doesn't quite match the board. Two pads are off by about half a pad each. | | Can the solder paste stencil be modified? If so, what is the tec
