Not specific to QFP, but I had a run of poorly etched boards. I could see the short using 75X magnification with back lighting, but only some of the time. Nasty little shorts on ~25% of the boards that cost us a boat-load of cash.

I've put a call in for some tech support. I haven't had much succes dealing with them in the past. If anyone is running this machine, any knowlege on my problem is much appreciated. Currently camera 3 (highest magnification) will not find fiducials

All of our reflow is with room air, 63/37 and SAC305. I believe nitrogen will get you better looking solder joints (shiny, less grainy under magnification), but per IPC, functionality and strength I don't think there is much difference.

Can anyone recommend a good reasonably priced microscope for looking at cross sections? The ones I'm finding with the magnification we're looking for all seem to be for glass slides.

since you did not define what visual process you are inspecting with I will ask is this "grainy" appearance being detected with the naked eye only? Are you using magnification? if so, what power? Is this a SMT solder or through hole solder problem?

Slump is a function of the particular paste you select and the temperature of the paste. Use a slump test like the one that follows to compare fluxes. Slump Test Step Process activity 1 Print paste on white ceramic substrate or microscope sli

Dear SM Rookies, Another acceptable test method is visual inspection. IPC-A-610 details what to look for with different contaminants, providing magnified pictures of the possible visual residues. With an existing cleaning process, magnification

For any rework machine a good optics system is important. A look-up look down is used for BGA components. 30X magnification is required for flip chip, MicroBGA and fine pitch QFP placement. Digital cameras are not required, CCD have a good enoug

The cost of an x-ray inspection system will be determined by the following inter-related paramers: 1. The focal spot size of the x-ray source. 2. The maximum tube voltage. 3. The physical size and shielding requirements of the systems. 4. The design

Is it possible to put PCB to the screen printer with vision and on the board put sheet of paper then make print on the paper and it is the reference then i teach vision for example fine pitch aperture then remove paper and align PCB? We have semi-a
