So just to update and close this thread, it was the ZFIB board ( the one mounted on top of the theta motor) that was causing the theta motor to error out) Problem fixed. $ 30 dls or so from MYDATA. Hope this helps some one down the road.

Do all of the above (robgd3) In my case the problem was a motor inside the moving head started to give up so it kinda miss the synchro with the other motor on the outside, and in my case we bought the new motor but it took several day to fix with the

I can't remember what motor control cards in the machine are interchangeable, but if the controller card for the theta axis is a common control card then you can swap out the one currently controlling the theta axis with a different axis and see if t

Bruce, Since we had spares, I replaced the X wagon cables, XFMB cable, nothing. FFX Cable, nothing. Swapped mot cards, nothing. Vaccum seal, nothing. At this point I truly believe the problem is either on the theta encoder or the theta motor. Unfortu

I would have said it sounded like a motor/encoder problem...but, since you found the broken resistor, that was likely the source of your issue. The resistor and capacitor are a filter for the motor, MyData likes to put them on nearly all of the moto

bought the cable replacement kit and replaced all of the ribbon cables and still the deadly motor error 4. Everything in the system has been replaced except the X motor and the Y motor cable.

It could very well be the Safety Relay located inside the ELMO PSU (Bottom left in computer cabinet). I just had the same problems on 2 MY9's within 2 months apart. the Part cost around $700.00 from Mydata (Now Mycronic). These fail commonly with old

If you are not getting repeatable transducer readings then some possiblities are : 1. Transducer is bad 2. Motor is bad 3. Y power booster Also, I can't remember if the Y motor has a flex coupling on it or not. If it does, check that out. Also, w

Z-force sensor is a tool travel indicator. It has nothing to do with Z travel. Does the Midas head move at all, during initiation? It sounds to me like a Z motor/encoder problem. Is the Midas head ribbon cable plugged in?

Thanks for the response. Yes, the z motor initializes in the service program just fine. It moves and reads a position. Also in the service program, I try to test the z force sensor and it gives me the same error - no z indicator at all. All cables ar
