Dear all, What are your views on reworking BGA's? I mean, with the BGA going through reflow temperatures four times or more, and with a manual reballing process, wouldn't it raise up a few reliability issues? Would you consider not doing rework on

nifhail, In a nutshell: Vapor-phase reflow is a process that uses a fluid with a selected boiling point. As condensation of the hot vapor occurs on a cool assembly the assembly's temperature is rapidly raised to match the temperature of the vapor.

I agree with you Steve. I have tried to convince the fine folk at SMTnet about your very agrument for years. They listen, but are unmoved. I think they would be moved if we raised a stink about it

That would definitely do it. We have thought about this a number of times as its been raised. The more people who are in support of it, the quicker it will happen.

Dave, I raised this concern also. AMP claims that the tight fit in the wipe zone creates an airless joint that will not corrode despite the dissimiliar metals. DDave, thanks for the link.

Vinny, I agree 100%, raising the import taxes could resolve the $521 billion deficit the country has and make local manufacturing more attractive for investors. (But this is probably not sophisticated enough to implement) Patrick
