I have seen this affect on Immersion Tin and OSP. 70 to 90 % of the solder wicks to the lead and forms a "single" homogenous solder mass. This even though the pad was 100 % covered with paste... Evaluated different solder paste...did find variatio

John, I have had previous experience of immersion silver coated PCB's in place of HASL coated type using no-clean processing with little or no problem at all. All of the process parameters were left unchanged. There is a very minor difference in th

Strange as we have had huge problems with Silver in Many different Assembly houses. Mainly with Nitric Acid based Silvers causing blow holes, non wetting and even the Nitric etching away the tracks on fine boards. It has been one of the main problem

the tarnishing is happening across all the traces without solder even being applied. The PCB is soldered into the housing first. Once this is complete the traces have changed, and when it is time to solder the components to the traces this tarnishing

We have had some test results come back after we were getting poor wetting in our joints, we requested an EDS on our joints from our PCB supplier. They have provided the results and said that it was their fault and will replace. What I want to know

I have been using the Loctite Multicore WS200 with great results for the last two years. We also use the lead free version WS300. I like the flux chemistry (which is the same for both products); it really withstands long soaking times and with very g

I have seen smt chip varistors with Pd/Ag teminations that had poor wetting in terms of good fillet in LF (sac305) soldering. We found that the solder tended to be attracted to the plating on the part and off the actual pad (silver Immersion). This c

One of our customers that always was going for Ni/Au surface finish on RoHS PCB and our processs was adjusted for that, "whithout any problem". Recently they decided to switch to another surface finsh: PbFree HASL. What is that? Imersion tin/silver?
