So, I'd have to grind the living sh#t out of my wedding ring, and then use phosphoric acid based flux that can kill a small animal in order to solder stainless steel. Cool!

Hi could be relaited to the thermal mass of the screw/bolt. if there is no intermatalic formed and the solder just picks off id say this is likely. the hot wave hits the cold screw and cools the solder enought to leave some behind??

Some companies claimed their lead free solders wouldnt attack stainless steel, frankly they do and they should not be allowed to get away with these claims. Lead Free does not attack Cast iron
