Wave solder: Vitronics-Soltec vs. Electrovert

Electronics Forum | Tue Jan 10 14:56:11 EST 2006 | greg york

Worked with Soltec 6622 with Leaded and Lead Free and is a very capable machine with some good knowledgable engineers to back it all up. Not seen a Nousstar yet in the UK nor a Lead Free Electrovert either thinking about it Greg York Technical Sales

Solder Saver ??

Electronics Forum | Tue Nov 07 10:37:36 EST 2006 | greg york

Buy decent solder in the first place especially with Lead free and the savings made could be around 50% of the dross production for Lead Free when compared to Leaded. Buy poor quality solder you will need a solder recovery unit of some format. Cheers

Wave soldering problem - strange colour of the solder

Electronics Forum | Tue Jan 16 18:13:25 EST 2007 | greg york

Try to process the composite pallet through the wave without any flux and view volume of smoke and if any residue is deposited in the wave when it exits. My guess is that the pallets are releasing some binders that are high boiling and this in turn c

Lead Free Wave Soldering

Many trials conducted so far from single sided to Mixed technology dual wave with our LFB227/S 0.3Ag silver Lead free. Results are excellent, some say better than 63/37. One continueing problem though is the age old area of undercured resist and runn

Sorry Bill We have filled and supported over 250 Lead free machines now and have actually moved the angle back to 7 degrees the same as Leaded and the bridging problems have gone away.Dwell times are only fractionally longer and results are very goo

Wave flux and profiling

Electronics Forum | Wed Dec 20 04:43:36 EST 2006 | greg york

Any decent flux would volatise off with the heat of the wave unless absorbed into the solder mask. Test this by trying to clean in alcohol or common solvent aerosol, if it does not clean then it is probably Mineral Salts from solder mask fillers. Ano

Wave soldering problem - strange colour of the solder

Electronics Forum | Tue Jan 16 18:18:46 EST 2007 | greg york

Sorry that answer never really gave you the reason and ways to resolve. Reason - most composite pallets are only good up to 180C so thermal excursions at 250 or even 270c lead free kill them. Try to stay on top of cleaning as well and some pallet mat

Wavesolder PCBs encounter pinholes

Electronics Forum | Fri Jul 23 05:14:40 EDT 2004 | greg york

Hi Thomas Ever considered that this maybe HASL flux left on PCB as this is extremely hygroscopic and has heat transfer fluids that cannot be baked out unless you go to a temperature of around 600C. One way of testing is to leave iron tip on joint an
