Viewing a blade on its own merits may give you subjective results. Are you asking about metal or rubber squeegees? You really need to examine the print quality before you decide if a blade is worth using. If you are getting the right paste deposit vo

We go with the smallest blade that still covers the PCB.

Yes, it is important to ensure blade pressure over stencil is uniformly distributed across the entire length of blade. Such is possible only if the stencil is firmly supported from below, which during printing is done by the presence of the PCB itsel

DEK wrote a paper that compared 45 degree blades vs 60 degree blades. This paper was presented at APEX 2000 by Jay Hinerman. Email me at jhingtgen@dek.com and I will ensure you get a copy.

WHAT IS THE BEST ANGLE FOR THE SQUEEGEE BLADE TO BE ANGLED AT? WE ARE USING 45 DEGREE ON OUR POLYURETHANE BLADES, AND I BELIVE WE HAVE THE OPTION OF EITHER 45 OR 60 DEGREES ON OUR METAL BLADES. WHICH OF THE TWO IS BETTER, OR SHOULD WE BE USING ANOT

I have always gone with blade length equal to board width plus 2 inches - 1 inch either side. Is there any technical reason that I could not use a longer blade, say 2.5 inches on either side?

When you increase the blade length you have to use much solder paste. As a result, we will dry-out extra quantity of solder paste. If it's not a problem then you can use longer blades, just change/adjust the process parameters.

Important mainly for consistency of pressure across the entire board length... But also quite abusive of stencils to use longer blades. Especially since (most people) when using the longer blades will bump the pressure up even higher to minimise th

Has anyone looked at SPI results across different squeegee blade manufacturers ? We are running Momentums and using the MPM pro-blades. Ive been considering looking at permalex blades again to see if I can maybe squeek out some better yields.
